Bison Men's Golf Places Fourth After Day One at Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Bucknell University men's golf team was impressive in its season-opening round at the Cornell/Colgate Invitational at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at Cornell University this evening. The Bison shot a 314 in day one of the invitational, and they are currently in fourth place among 19 teams in the field.
Sophomore Justin Bretting led the Bison with a career-best 76-stroke performance to finish 11th out of 99 golfers. Bretting is just five strokes behind the overall leader, Pierre Fortin of Ottawa.
Also breaking the top 20 was sophomore Scott Leeder, who shot a 77 on the par-72 course to place in a seven-way tie for13th place. Senior Dan Gale finished two strokes behind Leeder with a 79, and Jimmy Freeman completed the Bison's scoring with a 82-stroke, 47th place performance. Senior Nick Leibowitz also competed, shooting an 84.
The Bison will travel to Hamilton, N.Y. tomorrow to participate in day two of the Invitational at Colgate University.
