MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Bucknell University women's golf team was impressive in its debut at the three-day, 54-hole Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic Friday afternoon. Although the Bison are tied for 15th in the team standings, their overall team score of 326 is the third-best 18-hole round all-time at Bucknell.
Leading the way for the Bison was junior Molly Campbell, who turned in a team-low 78 on the par-72 course. Cambell's 78 ranks in a tie for second on Bucknell's all-time 18-hole individual round list. Not far behind was junior Amy Jones, who completed the course in 82 strokes. Junior Jess Hetrich and freshman Jaime Hays each fired an 83 to complete the team scoring for the Bison. Also competing was senior Hilary Mainka, who recorded an 89.
With a field of 32 schools, the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic is the nation's largest women's golf tournament.
The Bison hit the links for day two of the tournament tomorrow in a fixed tee format before a shotgun start begins the third round on Sunday.
