Columbia lost five yards on three plays during its OT possession, and Sam Warren's 47-yard FG attempt fell wide right to end the game ... junior NG Adam Lord sacked Lions QB Jeff McCall for a loss of six yards to force the long FG try ... Lord had seven tackles in the game, five coming behind the line of scrimmage ... the Bison rallied from a 20-10 third-quarter deficit ... senior RB Jabu Powell scored on a 1-yard run with 3:32 left in regulation to tie the game ... the TD capped an epic 19-play, 90-yard drive that chewed 8:51 off the clock ... the game was tied 10-10 at the half, but the Bison turned the ball over on each of their first two possessions of the second half, and Columbia converted the miscues into 10 points ... Bucknell topped the 400-yard barrier for the second straight game, outgaining the Lions 414-288 ... junior QB Todd Wenrich completed 22 of 41 passes for a career-high 286 yards ... Wenrich's favorite target was sophomore WR Albert Marquardt, who registered career highs with seven catches and 111 receiving yards ... it was Bucknell's first 100-yard receiving effort since WR Kyle Harris had 112 against Duquesne last season ... Marquardt's 49-yard reception in the third quarter was a career long reception as well as Wenrich's longest completion ... junior WR Jim Horan made his first appearance of the season and caught five passes for 54 yards ... Horan missed the Kent State game with a shoulder injury ... sophomore FS Mike Leatherman recovered his second fumble of the season after Columbia's Johnathan Reese coughed up the opening kickoff ... Reese, Columbia's all-time leading rusher and a Walter Payton Award candidate, was limited to 99 yards on 25 carries by the Bison defense ... Powell won the battle of the star running backs, finishing with 110 yards on 27 carries ... it was Powell's 11th career 100-yard rushing effort, tying Ken Jenkins (1979-81) for third-most in Bucknell history ... it was also Powell's third straight 100-yard game against Columbia ... Powell upped his career rushing total to 2,470, good for fourth in Bison annals, 152 yards behind No. 3 Brad Myers (1950-52) and 179 behind No. 2 Brian Henesey (1988-91) ... freshman WR Daris Wilson was a major factor on Bucknell's second-quarter touchdown drive ... Wilson made a pair of first-down catches and ran 9 yards on a reverse ... following a BU holding penalty, his 20-yard catch and run on a middle screen gave the Bison a 1st-and-goal from the 4, and on the next play Wenrich hit FB J.C. Morgan for a 4-yard TD pass ... the 14-play, 72-yard drive took 6:33 off the clock ... it was the team's longest drive of the season until the game-tying drive later in the game ... Bucknell missed a golden scoring chance after marching downfield in the final two minutes of the first half, but Lundberg was wide left on a 25-yard field goal attempt ... sophomore SS Virgil Rush recorded his first career interception in the fourth quarter ... Rush was also Bucknell's leading tackler with eight ... Bucknell now holds a 10-2-2 series lead against Columbia ... the last three Bison-Lions clashes have been decided by a total of eight points, and the last five have all been decided by a touchdown or less ... the Bison are now 3-1 in overtime games ... their two previous OT wins both came against Colgate, most recently a 28-27 verdict in the final game of the 1996 season that decided the Patriot League championship ... prior to the game Bison game captains CB Reed Tunison and DT Anddy Carmona participated in a brief ceremony honoring the victims and rescue workers involved with the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center ... it was the first New York City appearance by a Bucknell athletic squad since the attacks ... Bucknell finally plays its 2001 home opener next Saturday against St. Mary's (Calif.) ... the Bison have won both series meetings with the Gaels, 45-38 in Moraga in 1997 and 30-14 in Lewisburg in 1998.
