Women's Basketball Team Represented by Two Players on 2001 Planet Basketball's European Tour

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Two Bucknell University women's basketball players will be a part of the 2001 Planet Basketball European tour. The squad, which also includes seven players from the West Virginia Conference, a player from Gannon and a player from California (Pa.) University, will tour Belgium and Holland from August 7-16 under the leadership of Shepherd College head coach Betsy Blose.
Seniors Rebekah May (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) and Kate Rounsley (Lock Haven, Pa./Lock Haven) will represent Bucknell. The duo helped the Bison to a school record for wins, going 20-8 overall and earning a second place Patriot League finish in 2000-01.
Rounsley, a 6-1 senior, averaged 6.8 points per game and 3.7 rebounds a contest. The reserve saved her best for conference play, tossing in 9.3 ppg and pulling down 4.2 caroms each night out. Rounsley had a career night in the final game of the season for the Orange and Blue, scoring 22 points and pulling down 11 rebounds for her first-ever double-double. Entering her final season, the center is averaging 4.3 points per game and 2.5 rebounds per game for her career.
A 5-5 point guard, May averaged 2.4 points per game and 1.3 assists per contest last year. The senior scored a career-high 15 points in a contest against Lafayette College last season, playing 19 minutes, hitting 3-of-4 from the field, 3-of-4 from three point range, and 6-of-8 from the foul line. For her career, May is averaging 2.2 points per game and 1.3 assists per game.
The 2001 Planet Basketball European squad will hold training camp at Shepherd's Butcher Athletic Center from August 4-6 before departing for Europe.
