Women's Golf Concludes Spring Season With 3rd Place Finish at Hartford Invitational

West Hartford, Conn. - The women's golf competed in the Hartford Invitational this afternoon to wrap-up its spring season with one last weekend on the links. On the par-73, 5532 yard Wampanoag golf course, the Bison took third place with a final score of 683 (346-337) finishing behind Hartford and Rutgers.
Low medallist for the Orange and Blue in the invitational was junior Hilary Mainka (Jenkintown, Pa./Germantown Academy) finished with an 36-hole score of 167, shooting rounds of 84 and 83. Mainka's 167 put her all alone into seventh place. Sophomore Jess Hetrich (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) came into the clubhouse second on Bucknell with a score of 170 (83-87) to finish in the top-ten at ninth. A slight bit off Hetrich and Mainka's pace was sophomore Molly Campbell (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) who finished in 10th place with a final score of 171 (87-84).
Sophomore Amy Jones (Pine Grove, Pa./Blue Mountain) recovered after a rough first round score of 92 to shoot an 83 this afternoon and move into a tie for 14th place. Also scoring for the Orange and Blue was sophomore Catherine Crews (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) with a 36-hole total of 188 after rounds of 95 and 93.
The Bucknell women's golf team concludes its spring season with this third place finish and will take the summer to gear up for the 2001 fall season.
