LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell women's lacrosse sophomores Suzanne Raffaele (Springfield, Pa./Archmere Academy) and Nicole Kallis (Stevensville, Md./St. Mary's), and junior Melissa Montefusco (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) are ranked nationally in goals per game, save percentage and assists per game, respectively. The 2001 NCAA Women's Lacrosse statistics leaders report was updated on Sunday, April 15.
Raffaele, an attack for the Bison, is ranked 19th in the country in goals per game with 2.91 each time out. She has tallied a team-high 32 goals in 11 games, ranking her third among Patriot League players in that category. Raffaele's 32 scores is also the fourth-highest total in the league and is just three goals shy of her total from a year ago. The attack will not be scoring any more goals this season, however, as she was lost for the year with a torn ACL suffered in a game against Lafayette on April 7.
Kallis has played in 11 games for the Bison, starting eight in the net. With a save percentage of .606, Kallis stands at sixth in the nation in that category. She has allowed 89 goals while stopping 137 opponents' shots.
Montefusco jumps back into the top-20 in assists per game after a four-assist performance in Bucknell's win over Villanova on April 14. At 1.50 assists per game, Montefusco is tied for 16th in the country. She currently has 18 helpers on the season and 41 in her career, bringing her two assists shy of the school career record. Her average is the best among Patriot League players.
Bucknell is 4-8 overall and 1-3 in Patriot League play. The Bison travel to Lehigh on Saturday, April 21, for a 1:00 p.m. contest with the Mountain Hawks. The Orange and Blue need to win against Lehigh to maintain an opportunity to earn the remaining spot in the Patriot League Tournament.
