Men's Tennis Team Drops one to St. Francis (Pa.)

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis team dropped its third-straight match with a 4-2 loss to visiting St. Francis (Pa.) on Monday, April 16. The Bison fall to 7-6 overall while the Red Flash improve to 5-6 on the year.
In a match that was contested indoors due to the inclement weather, the teams squared off in singles competition first. Bucknell claimed victories at the fourth and sixth flights for its two match points. Senior co-captain Hayes Hopple (Wilton, Conn./Saint Georges School) won 6-1, 7-5 over Jay Moore at the fourth flight. Junior Ira Brownstein (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) was BU's other winner, picking up a 6-0, 6-3 win over Kevin Sommers at the sixth flight.
With Bucknell unable to win the match, the two teams chose not to play the doubles matches.
Bucknell closes out the regular-season hosting Lehigh on Thursday, April 19, at 3:30 p.m.
