Lewisburg, Pa. - Sophomore Dennis Geraghty (Kings Park, N.Y./St. Anthony's) was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week after two strong performances against Stony Brook and Army.
After a tough loss to UPenn last week, Geraghty helped the Bison back onto the winning track by scoring nine goals in only two contests this week. Against Stony Brook, he tallied four goals on eight shots and scooped up a total of four ground balls. The Herd went on to defeat the Seawolves, 14-8, and in doing so earned their third win of the season.
In the team's next game and fifth straight road contest, Geraghty helped the Bison defeat Army, 11-10, by scoring a career-high five goals against the Black Knights. It was only the third time in 21 meetings that the Orange and Blue have defeated Army since 1979. Geraghty currently leads the Bison with 13 goals on the season and is tied with sophomore Andrew Sanders (8g, 5a) for total points with 13.
Geraghty and the Bison will look to extend their winning streak to three games as they host their home opener against Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday, March 21, at 3:00 p.m. The Bucknell men's lacrosse team will resume conference action when it hosts Lafayette on Saturday, March 24, at 1:00 p.m.
