Softball Player Lauren Potente Named Patriot League Pitcher of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior Lauren Potente (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland) was named the Patriot League's Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 18. The award is the first for a Bison pitcher this season.
Potente had a perfect 3-0 week on Bucknell's spring break trip to Fort Myers, Fla., giving up only two runs (one earned) through 21.0 innings pitched. She threw 7.0 innings in a 5-0 victory over Marist, allowing six hits while walking none and striking out two. The right-handed hurler then picked up a 4-1 victory over Saint Peter's. In 7.0 innings pitched, she gave up six hits, walked none and struck out one. In her final game of the trip, a 4-1 win over Quincy, Potente walked one, struck out three and allowed only four hits in the complete game effort. She has given up only two extra base hits through 85 batters faced, is posting a team-low 0.33 earned run average and is holding the opponent to a .198 batting average.
Bucknell is 6-3-2 overall after 11 games at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. The Bison face Delaware in a double-header on Wednesday, March 21. The first game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
