Men's Lacrosse Midfield Named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week

Lewisburg, Pa. - Junior defensive midfielder and face-off specialist, Brian Loesch (Baldwin, N.Y./Kellenberg), was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding play in Bucknell's first three contests.
In Bucknell's first contest of the season versus North Carolina, Loesch helped lead the Bison to a 9-4 victory by scooping five ground balls and winning eight out of 17 face-offs. He continued his solid play a week later in a 15-1 shellacking of Holy Cross by winning 11 out of 14 face-offs and tallying two assists. Against the Crusaders, Loesch led the Bison with seven ground balls. In the Orange and Blue's first loss of the season to the Pennsylvania Quakers 11-3, Loesch was a bright spot for the Herd as he scored his first goal of the season and dominated in the face-off circle by winning 10 out of 17 face-off situations. He currently leads the team with 16 ground balls on the season has a 59% success ratio on the face-off unit.
Loesch and the Bison will look to redeem themselves after the Penn loss by traveling to Stony Brook for a 1:00 p.m. contest on Tuesday, March 12. Due to unplayable field conditions, the contest will be played at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y.
