Bucknell Swimmers Turn In Solid Showing at ECAC Open Championships

LEWISBURG, PA - Nine members of Bucknell University's swimming & diving teams competed at the ECAC Open Championships over the weekend. The six swimmers that swam on behalf of the Bucknell women scored 100 points as a team to finish 12th out of 31 teams, while the three swimmers that represented the Bison men scored 35 points to place the team 21st in the 32-team field.
The women scored in all five relay events, including a school-record time of 7:47.99 in the 800-freestyle. Krisztina Poda (Bekescsaba, Hungary/Rozsa Ferene), Abby Weaver (Lititz, Pa./Warwick), Daniela Faas (Ludwigshafen, Germany/Worcester Academy-Mass.) and Rebecca Dolan (Pine Forge, Pa./Boyertown) placed fifth in the event. Poda, Dolan, Weaver and Molly Lowe (Hamilton Square, N.J./Steinert) recorded the 10th-best time in school history in the 400-freestyle relay, finishing 10th in 3:37.07.
Faas scored 12 points for the Bison with a seventh-place finish in the 1650-free (17:31.56), Weaver seven points with a 10th-place showing in the 100-free (53.36), Lowe four points for a 14th-place finish in the 100-fly (58.85) and a 16th-place finish in the 200-fly (2:09.19), and Poda notched a point for a 16th-place showing in the 500-free (5:13.45). Her time of 5:10.97 in the prelims ranks her as the seventh-best performer all-time at Bucknell in that event.
Freshman Jack Sheehan (Wenonah, N.J./Gateway Regional) paced the men's attack with 28 points by finishing fifth in both the 200- (1:55.92) and 400-IM (4:08.35). His time of 1:55.92 in the 200 ranks him seventh all-time, and his time of 4:06.99 in the prelims of the 400 ranks him third best all-time. Chris Feinthel (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) earned five points with a 12th-place finish in the 200-back (1:55.78), and Stelios Saffos (Cherry Hill, N.J./Camden Catholic) scored a pair of points for a 15th-place showing in the 100-breast (1:00.97).
