Ten Field Hockey Players Named to NFHCA Division I All-Academic Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Ten Bucknell field hockey players have been named to the 2000 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Squad. A student-athlete must have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.30 and be a starter or key reserve to be selected to the squad. The team was released by the NFHCA on February 22, 2001.
Senior Katie Yingling (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township), juniors Lauren Campbell (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton), Larissa Carso (Easton, Md./Westminster School), Erin Plasteras (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional), Mel Rhoads (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) and Suzanne Schaubert (Weston, Mass./Weston), sophomores Amy Marvel (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock) and Sonja Wettergreen (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon), and freshmen Lisa Bingaman (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) and Kate Ruda (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) were Bucknell's ten representatives on the all-academic squad.
Of the 73 schools represented on the NFHCA All-Academic team, Bucknell shared the highest number of student-athletes on the squad (10) with Monmouth University and West Chester University.
The 2000 Bucknell field hockey team finished the season with a 9-11 overall record and a mark of 3-3 in the Patriot League. The Bison advanced to the championship game of the league tournament for the second year in a row, falling to Holy Cross, 4-1, in the title tilt.
