HAMILTON, N.Y. -- The Bucknell men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished their second day of competition at the 2001 Patriot League Championships and currently sit in third- and fourth-place, respectively.
The men are firmly entrenched in third-place with a team total of 389.5 points behind Army and Lehigh. Junior Chris Neary (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the way for the Orange and Blue by capturing his second gold medal of the championships with a time of 49.63 in the 100-fly. He won the 50-free on the first day of the championships and is making a strong run at Swimmer of the Meet honors.
After being in the lead following the first day, the women have slipped to fourth-place behind Lehigh, Army and Navy in one of the closest championships in league history. Although there was not an individual gold medal winner for Bucknell, the 800-free relay team consisting of Daniela Faas (Ludwigshafen, Germany), Krisztina Poda (Bekescsaba, Hungary), Megan Jones (Glendale, Calif.) and Rebecca Dolan (Pine Forge, Pa.) set a school record with a time of 7:50.16.
Both teams will hit the water in the Lineberry Natatorium for the final day of competition tomorrow.
