LANCASTER, Pa. - Isaiah Hankel's win by technical fall in the 165-pound match completed Franklin & Marshall's come-from-behind 23-19 victory over visiting Bucknell at the Mayser Center Friday evening.
The Bison (0-2) won five of the eight bouts that were contested, but were hampered by a pair of forfeits.
With the contest starting at 174 pounds, Bucknell raced to a quick 12-0 lead behind hard-fought decisions from Brock Hostetter and Brian Neuman, and a second-period pin from 197-pounder Brian Falciglia.
F&M (1-0) benefited from walkovers at heavyweight and 125 pounds, knotting the dual at 12-apiece.
The Bison quicky regained a 19-12 lead when Justin Hartum edged Rich Gebauer 9-7 at 133, and Andy Bernstein took a 14-5 major decision from Jeremy Feinberg at 141.
But the Diplomats scored the dramatic comeback by winning each of the final three bouts. At 149 pounds, Billy Gatian nipped Tommy Doerr 6-5 with a late escape. Nate Schy brought F&M with a point at 19-18 with an 8-5 decision over Rocky Miller at 157, and Hankel capped it with a 16-3 win over Jon Spivak at 165.
