LEWISBURG, Pa. - On the strength of two falls and two forfeits, Maryland defeated Bucknell 40-9 Sunday afternoon in Davis Gym.
Maryland (5-2) captured the first five bouts of the day to race to a 22-0 lead. Adam James scored a 14-6 major decision over Justin Hartrum at 149 pounds to open the meet, and John Antonelli followed with a 9-3 win over Rocky Miller at 157.
Josh Weidman picked up the Terps first fall of the day, pinning Mike Saunders in 1:28. After a forfeit at 174, Jake Stork used a final-minute takedown to pull away from Brian Neuman, 9-5, and give Maryland a 22-0 lead. It was Neuman's first dual-meet loss of the season after six wins.
Bucknell's lone victory of the day came in a tense 197-pound match, where Brian Falciglia surged to a 5-0 lead and held on for a 7-3 win. The Bison picked up their remaining six points on a double forfeit at 125 pounds.
The Bison return to action on Feb. 2 at Buffalo.
