A 1999 Bucknell graduate, Junge was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 11th round of the 1999 free agent draft. Last season he pitched for the Jacksonville Suns, a AA affiliate of the Dodgers, and finished the season 10-11 with a 3.46 ERA to go with 116 strikeouts in 164.0 innings pitched. He led Jacksonville in wins, games started (27), complete games (one), shutouts (one) and innings pitched while helping the Suns win the Southern Division co-championship.
On Nov. 9, Junge was traded to Philadelphia with relief pitcher Jesus Cordero for Omar Daal, one of the Phillies' top starting pitchers. According to phillies.com writer Brett Steidler, the Phillies expect Junge to join the starting rotation for the Phillies' triple-A affiliate, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
As a senior at Bucknell Junge went 4-8 with a 5.62 ERA with 84 strikeouts in 81.2 innings pitched. He split his collegiate career as a starter and a reliever.
