Bison Men's Soccer Downs Army, 2-1, in Season Finale

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Despite taking only four shots in the game, all in the second half, the Bucknell men's soccer team connected on two of those to record a come-from-behind 2-1 victory at Army in the season finale for both squads. Playing in their final game for Bucknell, seniors Ryan Weber (Longmont, Colo./Niwot) and Andrew Aurand (Middleburg, Pa./Middleburg) were responsible for the Bison scores.
Army jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the first half when Tucker Mahoney connected on a pass from Ian Shipps 11:57 into the contest. The Army defense held the Bison offense without a shot for the entire first stanza, while attempting five of their own, but the score remained 1-0 entering the second half.
Just over 20 minutes into the second period, junior Steve Feather (Maryville, Tenn./Maryville) found Weber waiting 20 yards out. The defender placed a shot into the upper left corner to notch his second goal of the season and his career, and tie the game 1-1 at the 65:30 mark.
Less than 13 minutes later, Aurand received a pass from junior Chip Witte (Wall, N.J./Wall) 30 yards from the net and on Bucknell's fourth and final shot of the game, blasted the ball into the top of the goal for the game-winner. The assist accounts for the first point of Witte's career. Aurand ends his Bucknell tenure with three goals this season and seven throughout his four years.
Sophomore goalkeeper Steve Whitaker (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) recorded three saves in the victory, while allowing one goal. Tyler Donnell, the Black Knight's keeper, made no saves and allowed two Bison scores.
The Orange and Blue end their season with a 6-11-1 overall record and a mark of 1-5-1 in the Patriot League. Army drops to 3-12-2 overall and 0-6-1 in the conference.
