LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell field hockey team placed three members on the All-Patriot League Team, including a first-team representative in senior Lauren Campbell, the league office announced Friday evening. Senior defender Monica McCorry and junior goalkeeper Sonja Wettergreen were second-team honorees.
Campbell, who was an All-Mideast Region selection last season, earned All-Patriot League honors for the first time in her career. A starter in all but one game for the Bison over the last three years, Campbell enjoyed another outstanding season for the Orange and Blue. She finished second on the team with 14 points (five goals, four assists), with two of those goals coming in a 3-2 win over American last Saturday in the season finale. The Dean's List student was also one of the team's top defenders, as she ranked among the Bucknell leaders with 44 interceptions and led the team with 68 positive tackles.
McCorry also started all 17 games for the Bison this season and never missed a start in four years. Also an all-region performer last year, McCorry earned All-Patriot League accolades for the third time. In 2001, she paced the squad with 69 interceptions while finishing one behind Campbell for team honors with 67 positive tackles. She topped Bucknell with five defensive goal line saves and also scored her first collegiate goal this season in a 5-1 victory over Towson.
The 1999 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, Wettergreen turned in another steady season in the Bucknell cage. She ranked in the top 10 nationally all year in save percentage, finishing with an .809 mark to go with a 1.84 goals-against average. Wettergreen registered four shutouts, and at one point this season had a scoreless streak of over 220 minutes.
The Bison finished the season 8-9 overall and 3-4 in the Patriot League.
