LEWISBURG, Pa. - Two of Bucknell's top defensive players have been selected to participate in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I North-South Senior All-Star Game on Nov. 17 at Kent State University's Dix Stadium.
Senior Lauren Campbell (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton H.S.) was named to the South team roster, while senior Monica McCorry (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock H.S.) was chosen as an alternate.
Campbell, who has started all but one game for the Bison over the last three years, has enjoyed another outstanding season. She finished second on the team with 14 points (five goals, four assists), with two of those goals coming in a 3-2 win over American last Saturday in the season finale. She was also one of the team's top defenders, as she ranked among the Bucknell leaders with 44 interceptions and led the team with 68 positive tackles.
McCorry also started all 17 games for the Bison this season and never missed a start in four years. She paced the squad with 69 interceptions while finishing one behind Campbell for team honors with 67 positive tackles. She also topped Bucknell with five defensive goal line saves. McCorry also scored her first collegiate goal this season in a 5-1 victory over Towson.
Joining the Bison stars on the South team are players from strong programs such as Wake Forest, Duke, Michigan State, William & Mary and Cal-Berkeley.
Bucknell finished the season 8-9 overall and 3-4 in the Patriot League.
