Bison Men's Water Polo Team Picks Up 9-8 Overtime Victory Against George Washington

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Senior co-captain David Kennedy (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Country Day) made 15 saves, in the process becoming Bucknell's All-time career saves leader, as the Bucknell men's water polo team defeated George Washington, 9-8 in overtime, at the inter-regional championship at Princeton on Saturday morning.
Junior Chris Saxton (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) led the team with five goals on five attempts, including the game-winning score in sudden victory overtime. In addition, the driver finished the game with two assists.
Defensively, freshman Aaron Platshon (Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo School) had a career-high nine steals, while also contributing with five ejections drawn. Kennedy, who entered the game needing four saves to break the school career mark of 833, surpassed that with a season-high 15 saves.
The Bison improve to 8-9 overall and 4-2 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association. Bucknell will challenge Princeton, ranked 16th in the nation, at 4:15 p.m.
