LEWISBURG, Pa. - Led by junior Jess Hetrich, the Bucknell University women's golf team placed fifth over the opening 18 holes at the ECAC Women's Open Golf Championship Tournament this afternoon at the Bucknell University Golf Club.
Hetrich shot a team-low 78 to tie for seventh in the 117-competitor field. She was followed up by senior Hilary Mainka and junior Molly Campbell, a pair that also cracked the 25 for the Bison. Mainka recorded an 81 to tie for 16th place while Campbell posted an 83 to tie for 23rd. Completing the team scoring for Bucknell was junior Amy Jones, who tied for 41st with an 86-stroke performance. Also competing but not figuring into the team scoring was freshman Jamie Hays (87, 49th).
James Madison University leads the way in the team standings with a 307-stroke mark, and Yale University checks in at second at 322. With a team score of 328, Bucknell trails Princeton and Boston College by one stroke.
James Madison's Jessica Lewis was the low medallist after day one. She completed the afternoon one over par with a 71.
The tournament will conclude tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
