NEW YORK - Columbia broke a 0-0 tie in the 86th minute, and Bucknell had its three-match win streak snapped this evening, losing 1-0 to the Lions in non-league women's soccer action at Columbia Soccer Stadium this evening.
The Bison dropped to 7-3-0 with the loss, while Columbia upped its record to 9-3-0. The Lions also improved to 6-1-0 at home this season with the win.
Senior Lauren Papalia scored off a feed from sophomore Tara Davis with just 4:47 remaining to give Columbia all the scoring it would need for the win.
The Lions out-shot Bucknell 20-10 for the game, but junior goalie Laurie Purse saved seven Columbia shots to keep the Bison in the game. Purse has now held her opponents to just three goals in her last 279:19 of action.
Bucknell will try to improve on its 2-1-0 Patriot League record and its 4-0-0 start at home this season when it hosts Army at 3 p.m. this Saturday.
