Wrestling Team Picks Up 28-10 Victory Over East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell wrestling team has evened its dual meet record at 3-3 overall and improved to 2-0 in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association with a 28-10 victory at East Stroudsburg on Saturday, January 6.
Bucknell started the match with a major decision victory at 197 pounds when junior Brian Falciglia (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) defeated Ben Zerance, 11-3. The host came right back and evened the score with a major decision at heavyweight. The Bison went back on top 7-4 when sophomore Josh Perrin (Boswell, Pa./Somerset) picked up a 3-2 decision at 125 pounds, but East Stroudsburg grabbed the lead (8-7) with a 9-1 major decision at the 133 pound weight class. The Orange and Blue answered with two straight wins at the 141 and 149 pound weight classes. Sophomore Brandn Green (Port Matilda, Pa./State College) pinned his opponent at 141 pounds in 4:33, while junior Tommy Doerr (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) won by decision, 6-1, at 149 pounds to put the Bison ahead 16-8.
East Stroudsburg cut the margin to 16-11 after a decision at 157 pounds before losing a team point for unsportsmanlike conduct at the weight class to fall behind, 16-10. Bucknell went on to win the final three matches to secure the victory. Senior co-captain Ryan Fasnacht (Tremont, Pa./Pine Grove) won by fall in 4:37 at the 165 pound weight class, while junior Ben Chunko (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) won by decision, 8-3, at 174 pounds. Junior co-captain Brian Neuman (Eighty Four, Pa./Canon-McMillian) finished out the match with a 9-3 decision over his opponent at 184 pounds.
Bucknell will be in competition again next on Wednesday, January 10 at Binghamton for a 7:00 p.m. match.
