Bucknell Wrestling Team Picks Up Second Straight Dual Meet Win

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Bucknell wrestling team improved its dual meet record to 4-3 overall with a 20-12 victory over Binghamton on Wednesday, January 10.
In a match that started at the 149-pound weight class, Bucknell won four of the first five bouts in building a 14-3 lead over the host Bearcats. Junior Tommy Doerr (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) picked up a 9-5 decision over his opponent at 149 pounds before senior co-captain Ryan Fasnacht (Tremont, Pa./Pine Grove) extended BU's lead to 6-3 with an 11-10 decision at 165 pounds. Juniors Ben Chunko (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) and co-captain Brian Neuman (Eighty Four, Pa./Canon McMillian) followed with major decision wins at 174 and 184-pounds, respectively. Chunko won 16-3 to improve to 7-0 in dual meet competition and Neuman defeated his opponent 10-2.
Binghamton won three of the final five bouts, but a 6-1 decision by sophomore Josh Perrin (Boswell, Pa./Somerset) at 125-pounds sealed the win for Bucknell. Sophomore Brandn Green (Port Matilda, Pa./State College) won the final match of the evening, 10-4, at 141 pounds.
Bucknell improves to 4-3 overall and is in action again on Saturday, January 20. The Bison travel to Brown for a quad meet with the host, Sacred Heart and Boston College slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. Binghamton falls to 2-6 overall.
