Women's Soccer Players Named To All Mid-Atlantic Region Team By Soccer Buzz

Lewisburg, Pa. --- Sophomore Tara Utchel (Heidelberg, Pa./Sewickley) and freshman Kristie Simon (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) of the Bucknell women's soccer team were recently named to the Soccer Buzz all-region team. Simon was named to the Mid-Atlantic All-Freshman team while her teammate, Utchel, was selected to the region's second team.
In only her first season playing collegiate ball, Simon led the Orange and Blue in scoring by tallying nine goals and three assists on the season in 18 contests. Simon set a Bucknell record by recording at least a point in her first five career games. She topped off a fine first season by being selected to the All-Patriot League First Team.
Returning for her second season with the Bison after being named the Patriot League's Rookie of the Year in 1999, Utchel tallied five goals and seven assists before falling victim to a season ending knee injury. Earning post-season honors, Utchel joined Simon on the first team All-Patriot League. After two seasons Utchel has scored nine goals and handed out 10 assists.
Utchel and Simon helped lead the Bucknell women's soccer team to an 8-9-1 record and its first appearance in the Patriot League Tournament in three years. Both Utchel and Simon will return for the 2001 season along with a host of talented individuals under head coach Chrissy Findlay's tutelage.
