LEWISBURG, PA - Bucknell University's Chris Neary (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Male Swimmer of the Week following his performance in Bucknell's dual meet victory over Lehigh University last weekend.
Neary won both the 50-free and 100-fly, setting Freas-Rooke Pool records in the process, to pace the Bison to their first win over the Mountain Hawks since the 1991-92 season.
The junior touched home in the 50-free in a time of 20.91, besting the previous pool mark of 20.98 held by former Bison great and Bucknell Hall of Famer Jim Harvey. Neary then toppled Harvey's pool record mark of 50.97 in the 100-fly with a time of 50.68.
The Bucknell men's (7-2 dual meets) and women's (6-3) swimming & diving teams are preparing for the upcoming Patriot League Championships at Colgate University. The event will begin on Thursday, February 15 and run through Saturday, February 17.
