Wrestling Team Improves to 7-3 In Dual Meet Competition

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - In its third match of the day, the Bucknell wrestling team defeated Sacred Heart, 24-21, on Saturday, January 20. The match was held at Brown University.
Junior Ben Chunko (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) opened the match with a major decision victory at 174 pounds (15-5) to stake Bucknell to an early 4-0 lead. The Pioneers jumped ahead with a win by fall at 184 pounds, but junior Brian Falciglia (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) earned a forfeit at 197 pounds to put the Orange and Blue back in front, 10-6. Sophomore Carl Perrone (Flanders, N.J./Roxbury) followed with a major decision victory at heavyweight, and classmate Josh Perrin (Boswell, Pa./Somerset) pushed the Bison lead to 17-6 with a decision over his opponent at 125 pounds.
Sacred Heart claimed the next two matches to cut it to 17-15, before junior Tommy Doerr (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) picked up a 4-2 decision at 149 pounds to extend it to 20-15. The Pioneers took over the lead, 21-20, after a fall at 157 pounds, but senior co-captain Ryan Fasnacht (Tremont, Pa./Pine Grove) came through in the end, defeating his opponent by a major decision, 15-6, at the 165 pound weight class.
Bucknell improves to 7-3 overall and faces Brown in the final match of the day.
