COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER - Bucknell 0, St. Francis (PA) 0 (2 OT)
LORETTO, Pa. - The Bucknell men's soccer team moved to 1-4-1 on the season with a defensive battle at St. Francis (PA) on Wednesday, September 13. The Bison battled the Red Flash to a 0-0 tie after 120 minutes of play.
Both teams had several opportunities to score as the Orange and Blue led 14-12 in shots, but neither could capitalize.
This marks the second straight year Bucknell and St. Francis (PA) have finished regulation in a tie. Last season, BU defeated the Red Flash, 5-4, in two overtimes in Lewisburg.
"Things just aren't clicking offensively yet," said Bucknell head coach Brendan Nash. "We need to keep plugging away offensively to get things going."
Freshman goalkeeper Steve Whitaker (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) proved solid in goal for the Bison in his first collegiate start. Whitaker recorded eight saves while not allowing a goal.
The Bison open Patriot League play at Holy Cross on Saturday, September 16, with a 3:00 p.m. game.
