Bucknell Men's Soccer Falls To UVM In First Game Of Smith Barney Classic

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Jamie Farrell scored two goals and Tim Willard tallied a goal and an assist as the University of Vermont defeated Bucknell, 4-0, in the opening round of the 10th annual Smith Barney Soccer Classic on Saturday, September 9, at Vermont's Centennial Field.
Willard opened the scoring just nine minute into the match - Vermont's home opener - as his header off a Tim Parisi free kick beat Bison goalkeeper Keith Sheldon (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) (four saves). Shortly after intermission, Parisi fed David Said, who drilled hoem his first goal of the season from the top of the penalty area. For Parisi, it was his fourth assist over the last two games.
Farrell then added his first goal as he nodded in a nice cross from Willard in the 68th minute. He finished the scoring from 15 yards out after a long run from midfield.
Vermont's Chris Shaver needed to make just one save in posting his first shutout of the season as the Cats improved to 2-1.
On Sunday, the Bison (1-3), take on New Hampshire at noon.
