Lewisburg, Pa. --- Bucknell junior Lauren Campbell (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) has received the Subway Athlete of the Month Award for the month of August in Field Hockey.
The award was announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Monday, September 4. Sponsored by Lewisburg Subway, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. Other winners for the month of August, as selected by the respective coaches, included senior Kristen Erb in soccer, and senior Nicole LaMothe in volleyball.
Campbell is a midfielder for head coach Heather Lewis' team. She plays at a mostly defensive midfield position and started all 21 games last season as a sophomore. Currently after only two games, Campbell has not scored but has led the team through her tough play and enthusiasm for the game.
Bucknell is 1-1 overall and will play at Towson this Tuesday, September 5 at 5:00 p.m. in a non-conference contest.
