COLLEGE WOMEN'S SOCCER: Colgate 6, BUCKNELL 1
Lewisburg Pa. --- The Bucknell women's soccer team had its five game-winning streak broken this evening when it lost to Patriot League rival, Colgate, 6-1. Despite outshooting the Red Raiders 22-19, the Bison where unable to put anything in the net until late into the second half
Colgate jumped out to a quick lead with goals in the 14th, 22nd, and 26th minutes of the game. The Orange and Blue trailed 3-0 after one stanza of competition. The Bison did not see themselves on the scoreboard until late in the game when sophomore Tara Utchel (Heidelberg, Pa./Sewickley) dribbled in on the goalkeeper untouched and put the ball in the upper right corner of the goal. The goal was her third of the season and Bucknell's only tally during the contest.
The women's soccer team is now 5-3 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. The Orange and Blue will have some time to regroup for their next game against St. Francis (Pa.) on Wednesday, September 27. The contest will be played on the road for the Bison and will be a non-league game.
