Bucknell Wrestling Team Picks Up First Win in EIWA Action

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell wrestling team picked up its second dual meet victory of the season, defeating visiting Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association opponent Franklin & Marshall, 38-9, on Saturday, December 9.
After earning six points from a forfeit to open the match at 174, the Bison won the next four matches, two by technical fall and one by major decision, to increase their lead to 23-0. Junior co-captain Brian Neuman (Eighty Four, Pa./Canon-McMillian) picked up a 13-5 major decision at 184 pounds and junior Brian Falciglia (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) earned a 19-3 technical fall at 197 pounds, before heavyweight Carl Perrone (Flanders, N.J./Roxbury) picked up a 6-2 decision over his opponent. Sophomore Josh Perrin (Boswell, Pa./Somerset) closed out the Bucknell run with a 16-1 technical fall over his opponent at 125-pounds. Another forfeit at the 133-pound weight class extended Bucknell's lead to 29-0 before the Diplomat's finally got on the board with a win by fall at 141 pounds.
With the Bison lead at 29-6, junior Tommy Doerr (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) used riding time to earn a 5-4 decision at 149 pounds to make it 32-9 in Bucknell's favor. After a Franklin & Marshall decision at 157 pounds, senior captain Ryan Fasnacht (Tremont, Pa./Pine Grove) finished things strongly for the Orange and Blue, pinning his opponent at 165 pounds in 2:00.
Bucknell improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the EIWA. The Bison will be in action next on Thursday and Friday, December 28-29, at the Wilkes Open. Franklin & Marshall falls to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in the EIWA.
