LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell freshman guard Desire Almind (Blairstown, N.J./North Warren Regional) has picked up her third-straight Patriot League Rookie of the Week honor. The award was given for the week ending December 3, 2000.
In just her fourth game in a Bucknell uniform, Almind had her second 25-point game, going 10-for-15 from the field, in a 68-55 Bison victory over Marist on November 28. She became just the second Bucknell player to have more than two 20+-point games in her first four contests (21 vs. American (11/18), 25 vs. Hampton (11/20), 25 vs. Marist). In addition to her performance at Marist, Almind also scored a game-high 19 points in the Bucknell win over Niagara in the opening round of the Cornell Classic (12/1-2) en route to an All-Tournament Team selection.
Almind is leading the team and the Patriot League with 20.0 ppg on the season and is Bucknell's second leading rebounder with 5.8 caroms per game.
The Bison are 5-1, their best start since the 1997-98 season, and look to improve on their record when they conclude a four-game road trip at St. Francis (Pa.) on Wednesday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m.
