LEWISBURG, PA - Two Bucknell University football players were honored Tuesday afternoon at the Lewisburg Touchdown Club Luncheon. The player of the game honors for the Holy Cross contest were selected by the Bucknell coaching staff and publicly announced at the weekly affair.
Junior linebacker Mark Tallman (West Carthage, N.Y./Carthage) was named the Defensive-Player-of-the-Game following a heartbreaking 10-9 loss to the Crusaders. Tallman led a stingy Bison defense with five tackles - ALL of which came behind the line of scrimmage. Two of his hits were quarterback sacks, resulting in a loss of 15 yards. In addition, he recovered a Holy Cross fumble deep in Crusader territory to set up one of Bucknell's three field goals in the game. Tallman currently ranks eighth on the squad with 27 tackles, and is second on the team with four quarterback sacks.
Junior running back Ricco Rosini (Shamokin, Pa./Southern Columbia) was chosen as the Special Teams-Player-of-the-Game for the second time this season. Rosini, a valuable member of the Bison special teams unit, recorded three tackles on kick-off an punt coverage against Holy Cross and forced a fumble deep in Crusader territory that Holy Cross recovered. He has 12 tackles on special teams this year.
There was not an Offensive Player of the Game honored this week.
Bucknell, now 6-3 and 2-2 in the Patriot League, will travel to Towson, Maryland for a critical Patriot League game against the Towson Tigers this Saturday. Kickoff at Minnegan Stadium is at 12:30 p.m.
