LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell junior defender Monica McCorry (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock) was named to the 2000 All-Patriot League First-Team for the first time in her career. In addition, junior midfielder Dena Ebert (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional) and Melissa Maher (Marcy, N.Y./Whitesboro) were named to the second-team, announced at the Patriot League Awards Banquet on Thursday, November 2, in Worcester, Pa. The banquet was held on the campus of Holy Cross, host of the 2000 field hockey tournament.
McCorry makes her first appearance on the all-league first-team after being selected to the second-team in 1999. The sweeper on the squad, McCorry has been equally as impressive in her junior campaign, tallying a team-best 90 positive tackles and 85 interceptions, in addition to recording seven defensive saves. McCorry was tabbed the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week once throughout the 2000 campaign.
Ebert makes her way back onto the All-Patriot League Second-Team after earning a spot on the team as a rookie. In her third season with the Orange and Blue, Ebert has recorded nine goals and two assists for 20 points - second best on the team. For her career, Ebert stands in fourth place on Bucknell's all-time scoring list with 26 tallies. In addition, her 59 career points are seventh best on the BU all-time career points list. Ebert garnered Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors in early October for scoring four goals in two games, including the game-winners in both contests.
Maher is Bucknell's third player named to the All-Patriot League team in 2000. A forward on the Bison squad, Maher leads the team with 10 goals and one assist for 21 points. Her three game-winners are tops on the team as well. After scoring just six goals her first two seasons, Maher needs just two scores to break into Bucknell's top-ten all-time scoring list with one season left. Maher picked up Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors twice during the 2000 season.
Bucknell will play Fairfield on Friday, November 3 at 3:00 p.m. in its first game at the Patriot League Championship Tournament at Holy Cross.
