LEWISBURG, PA - Three Bucknell University football players were honored Tuesday afternoon at the Lewisburg Touchdown Club Luncheon. The player of the game honors for the Fordham contest were selected by the Bucknell coaching staff and publicly announced at the weekly affair.
Senior quarterback Lucas Phillips (Glen Burnie, Md./Mt. St. Joseph) was tabbed as the Offensive-Player-of-the-Game after completing 20-of-34 passes for 194 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Bucknell's 27-13 victory. Phillips, who was also named the Patriot League's Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Rams, has raised his pass efficiency rating by over 40 points in his last five games. During that time, he has completed 61.4% of his passes and thrown for six touchdowns.
Senior free safety Kevin Eiben (Delta, British Columbia/Vancouver College) was named the Defensive-Player-of-the-Game. Eiben recorded his sixth and seventh interceptions of the year, returning them a total of 53 yards and in the process setting a new school record. He has 150 return yards from his seven thefts this season, surpassing the previous mark of 129 set by Gene Luccarelli in 1970. Eiben also finished second on the team with six tackles against the Rams, and broke up a pass in the end zone.
Sophomore place-kicker Chris Lundberg (Phoenix, Ariz./Thunderbird) was chosen as the Special Teams-Player-of-the-Game. Lundberg connected on a pair of field goals in the win, including a career-long 47-yarder. He had his string of five straight field goals snapped when a third attempt was blocked in the second half. Lundberg has eight field goals this season and ranks second on the team in scoring with 43 points.
Bucknell, now 6-2 and 2-1 in the Patriot League, will travel to Worcerster, Massachusetts for a critical Patriot League game against Holy Cross this Saturday. Kickoff at Fitton Field is at 12:00 p.m.
