LEWISBURG, Pa. ? Senior men's soccer player Bill
Epley (Franklinville, N.J./Delsea Regional) has been named
the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending
October 1, 2000.
A two-year captain, Epley has been a mainstay in the Bison defensive
unit for the past three years. This past week, he was instrumental
in two Bucknell shutout victories against Monmouth (3-0) and Patriot
League rival Army (1-0 OT). The anchor of the Bison defensive
unit, Epley is the leader of a defense that has not allowed a
goal in over 304 minutes of play. A two-time All-Patriot League
selection, Epley has led the Bison to three consecutive shutouts
and five total on the season.
In addition to his defensive abilities, Epley has also recorded
10 career goals and 10 career assists. One more assist will move
him into Bucknell's all-time top-ten list for career helpers.
The Bison are 5-4-1 overall and 3-0 in the Patriot League. It
is the first time a Bucknell men's soccer squad has opened the
league ledger 3-0, and only the third time a Bison team has reached
three wins in conference play.
Bucknell plays Philadelphia at home on Tuesday, October 3, at
7:00 p.m.
