COLUMBIA, S.C. - Bucknell sophomore forward Nick Taylor
(Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius) has been named the 2000 Gamecock
Soccer Classic Offensive Most Valuable Player, and senior Bill
Epley (Franklinville, N.J./Delsea Regional) and junior Greg Stunzenas
(Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) have been named to the All-Tournament
Team. The Bison participated in the tournament, hosted by South
Carolina, Saturday and Sunday, October 21-22.
Taylor was a crucial element in Bucknell's weekend, scoring the
game-tying goal and assisting on the game-winner in a 2-1 overtime
victory against the eighth ranked team in the country, South Carolina.
For the season, Taylor leads the team in scoring with four goals
and three assists for 11 points. This is his second all-tournament
team selection of the 2000 campaign. He was also named to the
Smith Barney Soccer Classic team in September.
Epley picks up his second all-tournament team honor of the season
as well. A defender for the Bison, Epley helped to hold the South
Carolina offense to just one goal. In addition, he scored the
game-winner just over three minutes into overtime against the
Gamecocks. For the season, Epley has two goals, both game-winners.
Stunzenas is a key defender for the Bison. After missing most
of the 1999 season with a knee injury, Stunzenas has come back
to start all 17 games for the Orange and Blue this season.
The Bison are 8-7-2 and are in action next at Lafayette on Wednesday,
October 25, for a 7:00 p.m. Patriot League game. With a win,
Bucknell would secure a berth in the Patriot League tournament
for the first time since 1993.
