LEWISBURG, Pa. ? Bucknell freshman goalie Steve
Whitaker (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) has been named the Patriot
League Defensive Player of the Week for men's soccer for the week
of September 18-25.
Whitaker has not lost a game since earning the starting role for
Bucknell three games ago. He turned away 11 Colgate shots in
BU's 3-0 victory over the Red Raiders on September 23, giving
Bucknell its first home Patriot League victory in five years and
helping the team to a perfect 2-0 league mark.
In his three games between the pipes, he has recorded two shutouts
and allowed only two goals. Whitaker owns a .939 save percentage
and is allowing only 0.58 goals per game.
Bucknell is 3-4-1 on the year and 2-0 in the Patriot League.
The Bison host Monmouth on Wednesday, September 27 for a 5:00
p.m. game.
