LEWISBURG, PA - Four Bucknell University football players
were honored Tuesday afternoon at the Lewisburg Touchdown Club
Luncheon. The player of the game honors for the Lafayette contest
were selected by the Bucknell coaching staff and publicly announced
at the weekly affair.
Senior quarterback Lucas Phillips (Glen Burnie, Md./Mt. St. Joseph's)
was tabbed as the Offensive-Player-of-the-Game after completing
23-of-32 passes for a career-high 287 yards and two touchdowns
in the Bison's 42-30 win over the Leopards. Phillips was 16-of
21 for 229 yards and two TD's in the first half alone.
Senior safety Dave Evans (Kulpmont, Pa./Mount Carmel) and sophomore
linebacker Juan Morales (Bronx, N.Y./Mount St. Michael) were named
the co-Defensive-Players-of-the-Game. Evans finished second on
the team with seven tackles and set a school record when he returned
an interception 82 yards for a touchdown. Morales spent the afternoon
in the Lafayette backfield, registering all six of his tackles
behind the line of scrimmage for negative yardage. Included in
the mix were a pair of quarterback sacks.
Sophomore place-kicker Chris Lundberg (Phoenix, Ariz./Thunderbird)
was chosen as the Special Teams-Player-of-the-Game. Lundberg had
a career-day, connecting on three field goals including a career-long
46-yarder.
Bucknell, now 5-1 and 1-0 in the Patriot League, travels to Bethlehem
to take on the 13th-ranked Mountain Hawks of Lehigh University
tomorrow. Kickoff at Goodman Stadium is at 1:00 p.m.
