Preseason Patriot League Poll Picks Bucknell Men's Soccer To Finish Fifth

LEWISBURG, PA -- Bucknell received two first-place
votes and tallied 37 points to finish fifth in a preseason poll
of Patriot League coaches' and sports information directors' for
the 2000 men's soccer season. The Bison finished the 1999 season
with their best record since 1993, going 9-7-1 overall and just
missing the league playoffs with a 2-4 conference mark.
Navy, which garnered six first-place votes, was selected to win
the annual Patriot League men's soccer championship. Holy Cross,
the regular-season Patriot League champion that finished with
a 5-0-1 League and 9-4-4 overall mark, garnered one first-place
vote and finished second in the poll. Lafayette, which lost to
UMBC 6-5 on penalty kicks in a NCAA Play-In Game, was selected
third with 46 points and two first-place votes to defend in Patriot
League Tournament championship. Lehigh, fourth with 39 points
and three first-place votes and Colgate (34 points) were voted
fourth and sixth, respectively. Army rounds out the field with
26 points.

The winner of the 2000 Patriot League Men's Soccer Championship will be awarded with an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. The 2000 Patriot League Championship will be played Nov. 11-12 at the highest seed following regular-season play.
