Men's Swimming & Diving Picked To Finish Third In Recent Patriot League Pre-Season Poll

The Bucknell men's swimming and diving team was recently voted to finish third, receiving 35 points in the Patriot League swimming & diving preseason poll. The women's team was voted to finish in fourth after receiving 40 points in the coaches' and sports information director's poll.
On the men's side, Army, which garnered 10 first place votes and a total of 50 points, was chosen to win the title in the annual preseason poll. The defending Patriot League champions, Army returns six performers from last season's All-League team. The Black Knight's will look to sophomore Dan Downs, last year's Swimmer of the Meet, who won the 200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke.
Lehigh finished second in the voting, grabbing two first-place votes and 41 points. Finishing behind the Orange and Blue in the poll was Lafayette with 22 points, Colgate with 21 points and Holy Cross rounded out the field with 11 votes.
On the women's side, Lehigh, the defending champions, picked up seven first-place votes and 67 points to lead the way. The Mountain Hawks will be strong again this season returning five swimmers from last season's All-League team. Lehigh will look to junior Lauren Ayers, last year's Swimmer of the Meet and two-time All-League performer.
Navy and Army finished in a tie for second with 59 points, however Navy garnered four first-place votes to Army's three. The Orange and Blue, in fourth place, were followed by Colgate with 35 points, Lafayette with 22 and Holy Cross with 12.
The Bucknell men's and women's swimming & diving teams will open up the season this coming weekend with the Blue vs. Orange scrimmage on Friday, October 20 at 6:00 p.m. in Freas Pool.
