Maher Wins Subway Athlete-of-the-Month Award

Lewisburg, Pa. --- Bucknell junior Melissa Maher (Marcy, N.Y./Whitesboro) has received the Subway Athlete of the Month Award for the month of September in Field Hockey.
The award was announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Monday, October 2. Sponsored by Lewisburg Subway, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. Other winners for the month of September, as selected by the respective coaches, included sophomore Laurie Purse in soccer, senior Brooke Bader in volleyball, sophomore Molly Campbell in golf, and junior Becki Marshall in cross country.
Maher is a forward on Coach Lewis' team and was recently named Patriot League Offensive Player-of-the-Week for the week ending 9/25/00. She currently is the leading scorer for the Orange and Blue with five goals on the season. She has been on a scoring tear the last couple of weeks with game winning goals against LaSalle and Lafayette, and another tally versus Lehigh
Bucknell is 5-5 overall and 2-2 in conference action. The Orange and Blue will play next this Tuesday, October 3 at home against Lock Haven at 7:00 p.m.
