A Second Team All-America selection in 1976 and a four-year letterman in soccer, Scott Strasburg helped lead Bucknell to a 41-12-4 record, an East Coast Conference championship in 1974 and three straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament. A co-captain of the 1976 team, when he was also a first team Tri-State All-America and Co-Most Valuable Player in the ECC Western Section, Strasburg also earned all-conference honors in 1973 and 1975. He received honorable mention on the Tri-State All America team in 1975, tied a school record with four goals in a game and graduated with 33 goals and then-school record 20 assists. Strasburg, who led the Bison in scoring in 1975 and 1976 and was second to his brother, Bruce, the previous two years, still ranks among Bucknell's all-time leaders with 86 points. Twelve of his goals were game-winners, including one with 16 seconds to play in the first half of an NCAA Tournament first-round game with Penn State in 1974. A graduate of Wissahickon (Pa.) High School, Strasburg received the Christy Mathewson Award as the outstanding senior athlete. After graduation he was a member of the New York Cosmos 1977 NASL championship team, and in 1978 played for the NASL's Colorado Caribous before serving as an assistant coach at Bucknell.Â
