Men's Water Polo Resumes Action at the Princeton Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell men's water polo (1-4) continues its brutally tough opening schedule when the Bison travel to New Jersey for the Princeton Invitational on Sept. 12-13. The Orange & Blue will face #17 Santa Clara on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and duel #20 St. Mary's (8 a.m.) and regional foe Iona (2 p.m.) on Sunday.

The Inside "Herd" on the Bison

Bucknell opened the season at the Triton Invitational on Aug. 28-30 against a schedule with four ranked Division I teams and one ranked Division III squad. Despite the 1-4 record, the Bison competed strongly against the gauntlet. Bucknell defeated Occidental, ranked fourth in the Division III poll, 22-10 and narrowly lost 12-9 to #20 St, Mary's. The Bison also put up a fight against No. 1 UCLA, the reigning national champions.
The Bison received votes in the Week 2 CWPA Poll in recognition of their performance.
The Orange & Blue were picked third in the MAWPC Preseason Poll.
Jack Dillane leads the Bison with nine goals.
Sean Tunnicliff scored eight goals at the Triton Invitational and received Men's Bison of the Week on Aug. 31.
13 different Bison scored goals during the opening weekend.

Opposition Overview

Santa Clara sits 3-1 with three wins over outmatched competition. The Broncos' sole loss came in a 13-8 defeat to #1 UCLA. Riccardo De Simon leads the team with eight goals.
Saint Mary's is 3-4 in its first season of competition but has already proved it could play with the sport's heavy hitters with narrow losses to ranked foes, UC Santa Barbara and Long Beach State. The Gaels have won three straight games, downing Bucknell, Mercyhurst, and Whittier. Leo Hachem's 16 goals pace the squad.
Iona has gone 2-7 against a difficult opening schedule, with ranked foes accounting for three of the defeats. The Gaels picked up wins over Austin College and Salem. Pavle Musikic's 13 goals lead the team.
