A four-year letterman in soccer and captain of the 1974 Bucknell team, Bruce Strasburg was selected to the All-Middle Atlantic Conference team in 1973 and 1974 and was Most Valuable Player of the Western Section of the MAC in 1973. The 1974 Bison squad, which finished 12-1-2, advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament following a memorable victory over Penn State and was ranked 14th in the final national poll. Strasburg, who also earned all-conference honorable mention as a freshman, led the Bison in scoring in three of his four years and had 14 game-winning goals in his career, including six each in 1973 and 1974. A Tri-State All-America Second Team choice in 1974 and co-winner of the Christy Mathewson Award as the top athlete in his class, he posted career totals of 38 goals, 12 assists and 88 points, all second-best ever at graduation. Also a member of the Bison golf squad as a freshman, he joined brother Scott Strasburg '77 as the only siblings in the Hall of Fame. The Strasburgs came to Bucknell from Wissahickon High School in the Philadelphia area.Â
