Art Raynor captained baseball and soccer teams at Bucknell and also lettered in basketball. Winner of three letters in soccer, he scored a then-school-record nine goals in 1948 while leading Bucknell to the Middle Atlantic States Soccer Conference championship. He finished his career with 23 goals, a total that still ranks ninth all-time at Bucknell. His four-goal performance against Delaware in 1948 has been equaled but not bettered. While winning four letters in baseball, Raynor compiled a 15-13 career pitching record. He was named to the NCAA District Two first team and All-America third team in 1950 after posting a 5-2 record, a 1.92 earned run average, 56 strikeouts in 60 2/3 innings and six complete games. He also batted .333 with three home runs while helping Bucknell to its first-ever Middle Atlantic Conference title. Raynor, who played two years in the Brooklyn Dodgers farm system, went on to become a high school mathematics teacher on Long Island and coached baseball, soccer and basketball. He served four years as president of the Nassau County Soccer Coaches Association.Â
