Natasha Wilson joined the Bucknell Athletics leadership team as senior associate director of athletics for administration in March 2022. In the fall of 2023, she was promoted to Senior Woman Administrator and added women's basketball to her sport administration duties. Â
In her role at Bucknell, Wilson directly supervises several varsity programs and serves as the Department of Athletics and Recreation’s primary academic liaison. She is responsible for overseeing the financial aid and admissions process as it relates to varsity athletics recruitment. Wilson also works closely with vice president for athletics and recreation Jermaine Truax and the department’s administrative team in crafting and implementing strategic planning efforts.
Wilson came to Bucknell with more than 15 years of senior-level athletics administrative experience, including the previous three as the vice president for student life and athletics at Central Methodist University. In that role, Wilson was in charge of a 17-sport NAIA program at Central Methodist in Fayette, Mo. While overseeing both the Office of Student Development and the Department of Athletics, Wilson helped CMU earn the 2019-20 Heart of America Commissioner’s Cup, the 2019 men’s soccer national championship, the 2021 NCA Cheerleading Championship title, a 2021 NAIA Baseball World Series runner-up finish, seven conference championships, and numerous Heart and NAIA scholar-athlete awards.
Â
In 2021, Wilson was named the NAIA/NJCAA/CC Nike Executive of the Year by the Women Leaders in College Sports.
Â
“I am thrilled to welcome Natasha to the Bucknell Athletics family and our senior administrative team,” said Truax at the time of her hire. “Natasha brings a breadth of experience and knowledge accrued over her 15-year career as an administrator at a variety of levels of college athletics, including the last three years as an AD at Central Methodist. Those perspectives will be extremely valuable as she works to help our student-athletes and coaches succeed on and off the field.”
Â
During her three years at Central Methodist, Wilson served as a senior staff liaison to the Board of Trustees while collaborating with the president’s senior staff to develop, design, and implement a wide range of strategic initiatives. She oversaw the Athletics COVID-19 task force, developed a new sponsorship program for the athletics department, and was involved in a number of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Â
Wilson was co-advisor to the African-American Student Union group, she was nominated to serve as a member of the NAIA CCA-Rise Committee, and she co-authored legislation to add the designation of the Senior Woman Leader role for NAIA member institutions. In the local community, Wilson served on the board of Fayette Together, an organization that serves to address social justice and diversity issues within the town of Fayette.
Â
Prior to her tenure at Central Methodist, Wilson spent the previous six years as associate AD and senior woman administrator at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C. In that role, Wilson was the sport administrator for several programs, she oversaw the department’s NCAA compliance responsibilities, she helped develop and assess short and long-term strategic planning, and she assisted with the oversight of the financial operations of a $3 million athletics budget.
Â
Some of her notable accomplishments at Johnson C. Smith included the successful contract negotiation with Atrium Health to provide enhanced sports medicine coverage, the implementation of an online merchandise store, and her roles as meet director for the 2018 NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships and point of contact as the site host for the 2016 U.S. Paralympic Trials.
Â
Wilson was named the 2014 and 2016 CIAA Senior Woman Administrator of the Year, and she received the JCSU Rising Star Award for proposal development and grant writing, as well as the JCSU Lonnie T. Parker Pinnacle Service Award for Servant Leadership.
Â
Wilson got her start in collegiate athletics administration at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, where she served as senior associate AD and SWA from 2006-13. In addition to sport supervisory duties, Wilson oversaw Lincoln’s compliance area, coordinated gameday operations, and served as liaison to the offices of admissions, financial aid, student accounts, and residential life. During her tenure, she helped with Lincoln’s successful transition from NCAA Division 3 to Division 2.
Â
Wilson is a 2005 graduate of Winston-Salem State, where she earned a degree in sports management with a concentration in marketing. She received her master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University Irvine in February 2019.
