Beresford "Ozzie" Brown II joined the Bucknell men's and women's track & field staff as an assistant coach in January 2022. Brown arrived in Lewisburg after spending the previous two years as head track & field coach at McDaniel College in Westminster, Md.
"I am very pleased to have Coach Ozzie Brown as a member of the Bucknell track and field family. He is a very versatile coach who brings great enthusiasm to our program, and he has a wealth of experience recruiting at numerous levels. It's apparent that student-athlete welfare is always at the top of his priorities," said Donner.
Brown brings more than a decade's worth of coaching experience to Bucknell and has helped guide a host of athletes to Division III All-American status over his career. On top of that, Brown is a member of the Moravian University Athletics Hall of Fame, competing for the Greyhounds from 2007-10.
While at McDaniel, Brown coached student-athletes to program-record times in the 60m, the 60m hurdles and the 4x200m relay. Additionally, he helped guide McDaniel's Nick Razze to the program's first Centennial Conference 400m gold medal since 1995.
Brown also led the men's and women's track & field programs at Scranton from 2017-19 while also serving as head strength and conditioning coach.
Brown made previous stops as a recruiter and assistant coach at the Stevens Institute of Technology (2013-17), St. Lawrence University (2011-13), Moravian (2009-11) and Gwynedd Mercy University (2008-09).
While competing at Moravian, Brown set the Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium decathlon record with 6,797 points in 2007, a mark which still stands in Bucknell's record books today. He was also a 2008 NCAA Division III champion in both the decathlon and indoor long jump.
Brown was a four-time All-American and a 30-time conference individual and relay champion, including 13 titles in one year competing in the Landmark Conference.
Brown earned his bachelor's degree in business at Moravian in 2010 and his master's degree in educational leadership at St. Lawrence in 2013.
