Dawson Shyne-Appignani joined the Bison rowing coaching staff in the summer of 2021. A 2020 graduate of Ithaca College, Shyne-Appiganani previously served as the boys' varsity head coach at The Derryfield School in Manchester, N.H.

Shyne-Appiganani captained the Ithaca men's rowing team as a senior, and he earned Scholar-Athlete honors during his time with the Bombers. He was a New York State Champion in both the V4+ and V8+ and was a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National Student-Athlete Honor Society. He was also a member of the Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honor Society and the Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honor Society while graduating from Ithaca summa cum laude with a B.S. in television/radio broadcasting.

During his undergraduate days, Shyne-Appiganani established a new tutoring program to aid Ithaca student-athletes, and he also coached sculling in a learn-to-row program for adults at the Cascadilla Boat Club.

During the 2020-21 academic year, Shyne-Appiganani was a Spanish and mathematics teaching fellow at The Derryfield School. He served as an assistant crew coach until January 2021, when he was appointed boys' varsity head coach. His team had a successful spring racing season, posting a 17-4 record in all categories, including a perfect 9-0 record in the 1V4+.
